Crystal Bar Pizza rose to fame in the 1950s in the bustling industrial city of Amsterdam, New York. The Centi family created a signature tavern-style pizza that quickly became a local legend — featuring homemade sauce and freshly grated cheese spread to the edges of their seasoned pans. The result was a perfectly crisp, caramelized crust around every pizza, topped generously with fresh ingredients and their beloved house-made Italian sausage.
The Centi family’s recipe captured the hearts (and taste buds) of generations, earning the title of “Best Cold Pizza in the Capital District” for many years during the 1980s and 1990s on the popular Don Weeks Morning Show.
Today, Brian Brumley — grandson, nephew, and cousin to three generations of Crystal Bar owners — proudly carries on the family tradition at Rustic Pizza in Saratoga Springs, NY. There, he honors his roots with the original Crystal Bar recipe while also serving his own takes on New York–style thin crust and Detroit deep-dish pizzas.
